Topic: THE POWERS OF A CHILD OF GOD                               Text:Mark 16:15-18

INTRODUCTION:

The Lord Jesus saved his disciples on the cross, died, resurrected and then ascended into Heaven leaving them behind. They were to remain and do some job dear to His heart John 16:13-15. In order to do this job (John 14:12) they will need security as well as Skill and Ability. All of these were encapsulated in 5 powers stated in this Scripture.

A. The Five signs are evidences of the operation of Five Powers working by the Holy Ghost.

Mark 16:15-18, I John 2:14, I Corinthians 14:2-4, Mark11:22-23, John14:13-14,    Romans 12:14, Psalm 34:1, Psalm 30:11, Luke 10:19, Malachi 4:3 Psalm 91:13 Hebrews 9:13-14, 22, John 15:5

 B. Some of the Reasons why these powers will not work are easily avoidable.

·         Lack of knowledge: Hosea 4:6, John1:1, Acts 2:38, Proverbs. 29:18, Romans 10:17, 2^nd Timothy 2:15, 2^nd Timothy 3:16

·         Failure to ask in prayer and fasting: Luke 11:11, Matthew 7:11, Luke 18:1,

1^stThessalonians 5:17, Matthew 17:21

·         Abiding outside the LORD: John. 15:6, 2^nd Corinthians 6:14

·         Pride: Matthew 23:11-12, Matthew. 5:3-5, 1^st Peter 5:6, James4:10

·         Failure to Grow in Faith: Philippians 2:12,1^stCorinthians 13:11, 2^nd Timothy 2:15, Jude 1:20-21, Psalm. 103:8, Romans 6:1-3,

We have to be careful therefore not to play away our opportunities like Esau did because, invariably when we dispense facilities like these five powers, we end up crying tears of regret. The Lord will not give us tears of regrets in Jesus Name.
