RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALT
Proverbs.14:34, 1 John 3:1-10
Righteousness is defined as the quality of being morally right and justifiable.
Righteousness in God’s eye is the quality of being right in your actions.
TWO MAJOR TYPES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
1. Righteousness Coram Mundo (Greek word)
In the spiritual sense is the qualify of being right with God in our words, conscience and behaviour.
2. Righteousness Coram Duo
Romans 3:10-13, 1 John 1:8, John 3:16
The early Christian call Righteousness Coram Mundo is also known as Active Righteousness.
Passive righteousness is the one we gain through our faith in Jesus Christ.
Active Righteousness is also known as Civil Righteousness. It depicts you relate with others.
We should not only claim our righteousness through Jesus Christ but also live our lives daily actively righteousness.
Major reasons why unbelievers find it hard to listen to us when we preach the gospel, it is because we are self-proclaim christians but our behaviour and actions do not show our righteousness as christians.
1 John 2:3-6
You are a liar, if you claim you love God and you don’t obey God, because if you love God you will obey God
Matthew 5:16
Jesus thought about Righteousness Corra Mundo. In the same way, let your good work shine for men to see.
1 Peter 3:1-2
You must live righteously as a Christian, because your righteous life can win over an unbeliever.
We all have the capacity to be good, the seed of righteousness is in description of a righteous person.
DESCRIPTION OF A RIGHTEOUS PERSON
Psalm 1.1-3(NLT)
Ps.1.1 – Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers.
Ps.1.2 – But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law.
Ps.1.3 – They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.
REWARDS/BENEFITS OF LIVING A RIGHTEOUS LIFE
1. Peace – Isaiah 54:13-14
2. Growth, Promotion and Increase – Proverb 14:34
3. Removal of Reproach
4. Total wellbeing – Isaiah 3:10
5. Access to God’s presence – Psalms 24:3-4
6. Oil of Gladness/Joy – Psalms 45:7
CONCLUSION
It is a very important for every child of God to have passive righteousness which is gotten when you accept or surrender your life to Jesus Christ.
It is not enough to have passive righteousness but it is also very important that we have active righteousness which is shown through our good works, attitude towards others.
